Advancing Economic Equity and Security for Generations
Building Resilient Inclusive Diverse Growth in Employment
Black LGBTQ+ communities face a critical challenge accessing good jobs. As a result, they miss out on the economic benefits, safety and security it can afford.
The BRIDGE FUND is our answer to this challenge.
The BRIDGE FUND is a community effort founded with equity, building bridges to an inclusive future that respects our identities and helps us reach our potential.
The BRIDGE FUND supports a 9-month workforce development initiative that connects participants with needed training and resources. Annually, it transforms the lives of 20 Black LGBTQ+ community members.
Participants earn certifications in cybersecurity, technology, and financial literacy. This holistic approach addresses skill gaps and builds resilience, reinforcing their ability to thrive in changing environments.
The persistent economic disparities and systemic barriers facing the Black LGBTQ+ community have been starkly illuminated by recent social and economic upheavals. With unemployment rates for LGBTQ+ people of color significantly higher than the national average, there is an urgent need for targeted, comprehensive programs that address the unique challenges this community faces in the job market.
From workplace discrimination to limited access to professional networks and resources, these obstacles demand immediate, focused action. By supporting initiatives like the BRIDGE FUND, we can directly combat these inequities and create pathways to sustainable careers in the thriving tech sector.
Through the BRIDGE FUND, we're addressing the unique challenges faced by Black LGBTQ+ individuals by providing:
Career Development Resources: Tailored support to navigate the job market, including resume building, interview preparation, and mentorship.
Skills Training: Access to training programs that equip individuals with the skills needed for in-demand tech roles.
Community Building: Fostering a supportive network for Black LGBTQ+ professionals in the tech industry.
Message from our Founder
Over my 15 years in the cybersecurity field, I've had the privilege of coaching, mentoring, and supporting over 500 fellow LGBTQ+ community members during their transition into the cyber industry. Many of these individuals are Black trans men, trans women, and cisgender LGBTQ+ people.
What I've come to realize is that the skills needed to succeed in cybersecurity are often intrinsic to our community. Significant gaps persist when it comes to equitable hiring practices, wages, job satisfaction, and advancement opportunities across sexual orientations. LGBTQ people of color disproportionately bear the brunt of compounded discrimination. We've developed these skills as a result of navigating spaces that weren't created for us. We possess valuable abilities that simply need to be sharpened through various pathways, including on-the-job learning and targeted training programs. However, what we often lack is the vital support needed to truly thrive in this field.
We've developed a specialized program tailored to our community's unique needs and strengths. Our programs are rooted in empathy and opportunity. One that creates an inclusive future where everyone, especially the Black LGBTQ+ community, can flourish in the economy and thrive in the cybersecurity industry.
Together, we can make a significant difference. We can help our community reclaim its power and voice, creating pathways to success in an industry that desperately needs our talents and perspectives. Thank you in advance for your support.
