Dr. Safi Mojidi

Dr. Safi Mojidi, D.Sc., is a cybersecurity expert with nearly 20 years of experience in human-centered security programs. He has a Master of Science degree in Information Assurance and Security from Capella University’s Class of 2011 and earned a doctorate in Cybersecurity at Marymount University, Class of 2023. As the founder and managing director of Hacking the Workforce, a non-profit tech startup, he merges his 15+ years of experience with a commitment to social impact. The organization's registered apprenticeship program bridges the gap between underserved communities and the tech industry, offering earn-while-you-learn opportunities that directly support diversity and inclusion initiatives.

He focuses on the digital trust needs of employees, customers, and digitally invisible communities, emphasizing the importance of people and processes alongside technology. Safi's expertise spans multinational corporations, start-ups, and all levels of government. He is dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity through data-driven methods and community building. As a leader in tech, he founded Hacking the Workforce to advocate for equity in cybersecurity via intentional workforce development initiatives.

From leading NASA into the cloud to building security programs for fee-for service and tele-health companies, he has navigated a myriad of challenges the cybersecurity landscape brings. This breadth of experience informs my strategic approach to talent development and organizational security. I'm committed to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity. 

Dr. Mojidi's background as a former professional athlete and a man of trans experience informs his unique leadership style, emphasizing teamwork, resilience, and equitable opportunity. His entrepreneurial model exemplifies socially conscious capitalism, demonstrating that businesses can thrive while making a positive social impact. Through Hacking the Workforce's Community Digital Health Center, Dr. Mojidi and Hacking the Workforce’s dedicated learners provide promotes digital literacy, providing services such as secure tele-health support, cybersecurity health checks, and digital literacy programs for underserved communities such as LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities. His vision for the future is one where cybersecurity is robust, privacy is respected, and technology serves even the most vulnerable.

With over 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, he brings a wealth of knowledge in a multitude of domains to include but not limited to security operations, engineering, governance, risk management, and compliance. His approach to solving security related technology problems combines technical acumen with a passion for accessibility.
